When All You’ve Ever Wanted Isn’t Enough

For the young coach asking, “Is this all there is?”

I first read When All You’ve Ever Wanted Isn’t Enough when I was a single basketball coach just starting out. My days were a blur of recruiting calls, campus visits, early-morning film sessions, checking class attendance, and living out of a suitcase. I kept telling myself that once I landed a better job, signed a better class, or finally got some stability, I’d feel like I’d made it. Instead, the grind just kept grinding, and the quiet question of “Is this all there is?” started showing up more often than I wanted to admit.
